In this video I am going to show you the difference in sound between the 4th generation Amazon Echo and Echo dot so you can decide which is best for you.
While the bigger Echo is the bigger louder speaker you may find that the dot is fine for you if you only need to use it in a small room.

I have left timestamps above if you want to jump to a particular type of music. All of the music found in this video can be found on Epidemic sounds.
I have found that the new Echos both sound better than their predecessors.
This is in part due to the fact that the speakers are both now more directional rather than going for 360 audio. With this in mind you want to make sure the echos are facing in the direction where you are going to be listening to them.
All the audio was recorded on a Zoom H1n microphone with the gain set at 7. Both echos were set at a volume of 5. None of the sound played during the demos has been edited.
Of course this demo won’t truly show you how these speakers sound but it should give you an idea.
Hopefully you now have idea on how great these speakers sound. I would love to know if you have got one of the new Echos in the comments below. You can also let me know if you want me to compare these speakers to any other devices such as the new apple homepod mini.
