One of my most memorable musical experiences was this masterclass on Beethoven's 3rd Piano Concerto with Maestro Victor Rosenbaum (at the time dean of the Longy school of music).
The masterclass fortuitously occurred on the day we celebrated my brother's Bar Mitzva so in addition to my parents and maternal grandparents who lived in Jerusalem being in attendance, my paternal grandparents, Noah and Muriel Daniel were in from New York as well as the wonderful Uncle Stewy who recorded this event and thanks to whom I am able to look back at this most memorable musical moment.
I think Grandma and Grandpa appreciated the masterclass more than anyone. Years and years later they would recount the day and sing "I WANT you I NEED you" (see minute 38:05). Of course watching this now I better understand everything he was talking about.
I grew up in the non-digital age and this is the first time I'm looking at myself 25+ years back...... interesting but it is certainly special to see my grandparents and recall how wonderful it felt to play on a beautiful 9 foot Steinway in the Jerusalem Music Center with my beloved piano teacher Bruce Levy who has taught me so much about music and life and then learn from Victor Rosenbaum who took me a little closer towards fitting into this beautiful movement comfortably and playing it as it should be played.
I later noticed the bonus session that was captured by uncle Stewy which was a lesson with my piano teacher Bruce on Ravel's Alborada del Graciso (from Miroir)
