Exercise is so good for everyone whether you're pregnant or not. Most of us should aim to get about 30 minutes of moderately intense cardiovascular exercise on most days of the week. If you've been doing this up to the point of getting pregnant you can usually continue on through the pregnancy and it's so good for you and the baby. It increases the chances of you having a happy, healthy pregnancy and of having good outcomes for your baby. Exercise during your pregnancy helps you look better, it helps you feel better, and it helps you gain the right amount of weight. It also helps you get it off faster after you've had the baby. You mentioned that you've made an observation that when you do a certain type of exercise video you have irregular cycles and you want to know if exercise can throw that off. Actually it can but it depends on the exercise. It's not necessarily certain moves, so it's hard to say if it's that video or not but very intense athletic style training can affect a woman's cycles and actually make it so she doesn't have periods. So can a sudden recent weight loss, all of those things can contribute to irregular cycles or bleeding. It sounds like you've at least noticed that you're having irregular cycles and it would be best to talk with your doctor if you're concerned about it or especially if you're thinking about having another baby in the future. They can ask you more specific questions about your observations, perform an exam if necessary, and then decide if further investigation or treatments are warranted to get you back on to a regular cycle. Good luck with everything and if you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at Facebook.com/IntermountainMoms and recommend us to your friends and family too.
