How good can a budget phone be: Here’s Redmi 7 – it is one of the first launched as the Redmi Brand. And overshadowed by the fabulous success of his bigger brother – the Redmi Note 7. But how good is this phone actually? Let’s find out!

In this review you will see most of the components tested and reviewed;
I’ll start with the camera – because more than ever our smartphone is replacing the need for using a dedicated camera. Supports phase-detection auto-focus, but lacks Optical Image Stabilization and electronic image stabilization. This is rather a serious disadvantage, but doesn’t surprise that much, because budget phones typically lack such a feature.
The pictures are rendered at 12 megapixels and the camera app is rich on options – besides the different shooting modes, you count on a Pro-mode which gives you more manual photo settings. Daylight photos are as expected good, sharp, with a lot of detail, and we will start noticing the actual weakness of the camera should it get darker.

The second big feature here is the screen. The so called drop notch makes the feeling of using the Redmi 7 satisfying.
So - simply HD resolution – and a lot of color configuration options, including night mode, and extra brightness mode for daytime consumption – hopefully we can agree that this display is very good and move on to the third big advantage of this phone. I say big – because that’s the right word about the battery capacity. 4000 MAH feel pretty well paired with the Snapdragon 632. Furthermore – the performance is better than the predecessor – the Redmi 6 – because of the faster CPU – which depending on the task is between 10 and 25% quicker in execution.
And I know what you would ask – how about gaming? It is just fine. SD632 is not flagship, but its higher CPU frequency and good cooling gives you the chance for enjoying even the intensive games without too much lag or too many skipped frames. We have to be fair here – we can’t expect performance like on the Poco F1 where we count on a flagship processor. This definitely is not a gaming phone, so with some of the games you may have to switch to medium settings, but – again – the hardware is capable.
Bluetooth 4.2, FM radio, silicon case that comes in the assembly, quickcharge, infrared blaster for remote control – the extra features are so many that it’s hard to believe a budget 2019 model can do that much.
Of course last but not least – comes the price. Which is usually around 130-150 depending on the amount of RAM and internal storage.
