Thursday night I was so excited when I went to bed. Friday morning was pick up bee nuc day. BUT, woke up to my truck window smashed in and my new 562xp Husqvarna chain saw with a 28" chain STOLEN. Didn't let it spoil my day though. Drove down the freeway with wind and rain blowing through the smashed in window looking like I'd stolen the truck. So glad the cops didn't pull me over. BTW I get my nucs from Hive & Garden in West Linn, Oregon.
I was going to wait for a swarm to occupy my swarm traps then transfer into logs. Decided to try this instead. I transferred the bees into an 8 frame langstroth hive, I punched a 3" hole through the lid of the log hive, moved the langstroth top board to the bottom, placed it over the hole and put the top lid on the langstroth. I'm hoping the bees will move down into the log. I'll find out in a couple of weeks if it worked.
Off to Henderson Equipment to get another chainsaw. No point in waiting around to see if my stolen chainsaw will turn up.
