Answer: We are the Body of Christ and when we sin it hurts our relationship with God AND the Church. But we remain in hope that Christ, through his Life, Death, and Resurrection, will save us from our sin.

CCC 404 Original sin is called "sin" only in an analogical sense: it is a sin "contracted" and not "committed" - a state and not an act.
