"1. Social activist Anna Hazare will launch a hunger strike on Wednesday over the delay in appointment of a Lokpal at the Centre and the passage of the Lokayukta Act in Maharashtra. Hazare told that he would begin the hunger strike at 10 am on Wednesday at his village in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
2. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh expressed concern over reports of violence that broke out in East Midnapore district of West Bengal where Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah held a rally earlier in the day. In a telephonic conversation with Banerjee, Singh asked her to take action against those who indulged in the violence.The BJP alleged that Trinamool Congress workers had ransacked and set afire buses in which the saffron party’s workers were returning from Shah’s rally. On the other hand, the Trinamool Congress claimed that the BJP workers had vandalised its party office.
3. British Prime Minister Theresa May on Tuesday agreed to renegotiate the Brexit deal with the European Union, after MPs in the House of Commons voted 317 to 301 to order her to seek new terms with the bloc. May had urged lawmakers to vote in favour of the motion, so she could open re-negotiations in Brussels.
4. The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked why the Central Information Commission and other bodies related to the Right to Information Act, were staffed almost exclusively by bureaucrats. Justice AK Sikri said the RTI Act mandates that people from various fields serve as information commissioners.
5. Sensex up by 200 points in opening trade, currently at 35,792.17; Nifty at 10703.35"
