Resilience – you’ve been probably hearing this word so many times for the last months in the business context in private life and just as one of the most important competences to deal with the global VUCA world – volatility, uncertainty, complexity & ambiguity. Isn’t it exactly the abbreviation for what is in the NOW? No matter the industry, country, organization. No matter if last year you lost some part of your business or team or maybe you grew your business and the team. Or that’s exactly part of the story – unknown.
As we hear the word, the question is - do we understand the deep meaning of it? In this short series of articles and videos I will share three components of resilience that I discovered with my team through the experience working with leaders and managers as a business psychologist, board advisor and transformation guide. Empowering them to take wise decisions, bold actions, engage employees & stakeholders, cocreate the new reality, innovate, and maybe even reshape the business model or a product or a service.
Today I will focus on the first component that is AI – and no, no, no this does not stand for artificial Intelligence but for adaptability intelligence. What does it mean?
Just recall back spring 2020, where you’ve heard the first information about lockdown, closing galleries, factories, lack of components in the supply chain, partial loss of the crew, closing borders, some of the businesses, sending people to home offices, quick adjustments in the strategy – all we were trying to figure out – how to operate in this completely new reality? How do I find myself as a leader, manager, a parent or any other role in this new reality?
The Adaptability Intelligence in this context is your ability to adopt to the new reality, every day with energy, clarity, sharpness of what to do and how to activate the people – as clarity gives power. One of the techniques that I teach in this component of resilience is reality scan – I enter the territory and I check – what are the conditions today? What information, data do I need to consider making a right decision today? No matter what was yesterday as today matters the most, right?
Adaptability Intelligence is your ability to feel comfortable being uncomfortable, to be flexible in thinking, connecting the dots in a new, innovative way, and simply finding yourself and the team in the NOW, but not just passively waiting, as just actively creating the reality, finding the best solutions, being real business partners.
How much time and resources did it take you to move your team to home office?
