Heavy clashes are taking place between Syrian Army forces supported by the NDF (National Defense Force) against Jabhat AL-Nusra and Islamic battalions around the city of Mork.
Mork at this stage of the Syrian conflict is one of the most strategic towns in Syria, mainly because it is on the main highway leading from Hama northwards towards Khan Sheikhoun which is still under rebel attack and it is a strategic supply line for the Syrian government that runs from Hama city north to two military bases in neighboring Idlib province: Wadi Deif and Hamidiyeh.
The town was captured earlier in February by Al-Nusra fighters it did not take long for the Syrian Army to launch a major offensive to retake the city. Al-Nusra quickly called on reinforcements from their own brigade and all other opposition groups.
Because of the strategic value of the city major brigades have sent reinforcements to the city, and fighters are still flooding in the city to help defend it from Syrian troops.
It is still unknown how many fighters from the opposition are involved in the battle. Syrian state television has mentioned that thousands of fighters are currently active in the city.
