Follow the Wayward Weekenders on their first hiking recap up Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous United States. At 14,508 feet above sea level you'll experience what it feels like to trek 22 miles and into thin air. If you're about to hike Mt. Whitney this video will give you a comprehensive look into what the trail is like in a relatively non-technical ascent. We hiking in Mid-July in a heavy snow year so there was still snow in several parts of the hike. Earlier in the season you would experience much different conditions and hiking routes which I detail in the narrative.

Three weeks before the hike I dislocated my knee and partially tore my ACL. Incredibly I tried to keep training through the pain and discomfort and with the help of trekking poles and a locking knee brace. All the credit goes to my wife Prianka who helped me get back on the horse before the hike and keep going. She even slipped on an icy rock while just above trail camp and dislocated her shoulder yet kept hiking!
