A short video I took at work back in June, showing 80-year-old Charlie Hoober returning from the local paint shop driving a 1975 Steiger Panther articulated 4WD tractor that he sold new. This tractor has a very cool story behind it - it was supposedly the very first Steiger tractor shipped to the northeastern US, in a time when articulated tractors were becoming more and more popular outside of the Midwest where they were originally intended for use. After meeting with a customer from New Jersey (oddly enough) who needed more horsepower for tillage, Charlie made the decision to carry the Steiger contract. The rest is history. Charlie was recently able to track down and buy this original ST-310 Panther II back from its owner, and had it repainted for the Hoober Inc. 80th anniversary tractor pull held at Buck Motorsports Park last month. This video was taken as he was driving it back from the body shop with a fresh paint job. The tractor has a small cam 855 Cummins rated at 310 HP (sounds good without the muffler, doesn't it?) and a 10-speed transmission.
