The general structure of symmetry multiplication tables is discussed and procedure for their construction has been explained with the example of trans-1,2-dichloroethene. That a 2-fold improper rotation (S2) is equivalent to inversion (i) has been explained in the course of discussion. The Rearrangement Theorem has been explained and illustrated.
