A very humid, warm plume of air was being drawn over southern parts of the UK courtesy of a trough over Biscay. The plume was set to destabilise over the weekend with storms becoming more widespread. The atmosphere was loaded with moisture and so any storms that formed were at risk of producing very heavy rainfall rates. Intense thunderstorms had affected France through the day and these storms were pushing northwards into the UK. Despite being elevated in nature, storms that had the chance of bringing gusty winds, flooding rains and hail.
