Well, it always seems hackers are one step ahead and now they've found a way to rip off credit cards without even knowing the numbers that are on them!
Basically, those at risk here are customers who use the "auto-reload" function on a Starbucks account.
A number of customers have reported that hackers stole money by gaining access to their credit card information through the Starbucks app.
The scammers apparently drain whatever money is already loaded on the account and then, when the auto-reload replenishes itself, they steal that too!
In some cases, the hackers are even able to change the auto-reload amount to a higher number in order to get their hands on more cash.
So, here's the deal: if you're one of the 16 million Starbucks customers who uses the company's mobile payment service... Strengthen your log-in credentials and reconsider using the auto-load feature.
