This is an early Martin Page song that he wrote and performed for a movie called "Gladiator." (No, it wasn't the Ridley Scott/Russell Crowe film.)
Since I've been photographing clouds, rainbows, rain (unsuccessfully, I might add), sun dogs, sunlight, the Moon, and other natural things lately, I decided to use a good portion of my cloud and sunlight photos as the montage set to this song. As I worked with my photos and listened to the song against the backdrop of my work, I began to hear the song in a whole other way, and it's got an amazing, beautifully spiritual quality to it that could apply to any sort of relationship, whether it be with a friend, a relative, or with some sort of Higher Power.
Whatever meaning you take away from Martin's music, please enjoy the video!
LYRICS:
In every man a fear is born
He must stand within the storm
And wake the faith
That sleeps so deep within the heart
In the darkest hour we face the past
As thunder rolls across our path
A sign of hope
When you reach out for my hand
CHORUS:
You can always count on me
Wherever you go is where I'll be
Call me in your hour of need
I'll carry you home 'cause I believe
It never dies
The spirit flies
Always know
You can count on me
There's an open road we travel down
To build the soul to bridge the clouds
This day I know
Our trust can never be broken
CHORUS
Now I can see where the darkness ends
Now I see where the light begins
In your strength another day
In your eyes I see my way
INSTRUMENTAL SOLO
This day I know
Our trust can never be broken
