When I saw these go up at Royal Tiger Imports (RTI) I couldn't pass on the chance to finally add a No.4 Mk.1 to my collection. This is one of the C-Grade rifles imported from Ethiopia. They are described as being in overall good condition but missing parts or damaged in some way. I was a little afraid to roll the dice on a rifle that could have problems but I could always use another project so I went for it. The rifle I received is a 1944 BSA Shirley. It was missing the cocking piece on the bolt along with the extractor spring. Both of which are easy to source parts. I was pretty bummed to see that the rear sight was broken in shipping but again that's not a difficult part to replace. The rear hand guard had a pretty serious crack in it that was probably made worse by the damage the rifle suffered during shipping. The blued finish on the metal parts is almost completely gone in places but the wood actually looks pretty dang nice. The bore has good rifling and a light shine but does have some pitting. I think this rifle will make a nice shooter once I get the replacement parts and I expect it to look pretty good after cleaning up. The biggest surprise was finding hundreds of tiny dead bugs inside the rifle. For the money I definitely recommend these C-Grade rifles imported by Inter Ordnance as long as you don't mind putting in some work to get them up and running.
Thanks for Watching!
