In this video, Keith Barker covers the benefits of using an IPv6 tunnel broker, configuring a tunnel interface, and verifying that it’s working correctly. He’ll begin by explaining what a tunnel broker is and the various benefits it can offer as you tunnel to the IPv6 internet.
Keith outlines a hypothetical scenario involving a company that has a well-structured block of IPv6 address space, but is separated from the rest of the IPv6 internet by an ISP that’s only supporting IPv4.
He explains how you can overcome this obstacle by using a tunnel broker. This is someone willing to provide one end of a tunnel so that you can connect to the remote end.
The logical tunnel interface itself will have IPv6 addresses, and you’ll set up static routes on the client side, training the router to forward all traffic for any IPv6 that isn’t local in the block space.
Keith will demonstrate how to configure this setup and then test to verify that it’s functioning correctly.
