This song was always one of our favorites to perform live because it gave us the freedom to improvise wildly.
It is introduced by Michael Popp, who plays the Arabic oud here, a stringed instrument that also refers to the location of the lyrics, to the Middle East, in which world politics has been repeatedly and destructively entangled. In this case, a suicide bombing in Lebanon and the political responses to it. The drums are not directed by the computer, but hammered by hand on the synthesizer keys. In addition, Komo joins in with decongesting tremolos and fast-paced runs on the violin. Alexander, too, has every freedom here, from the almost whispered announcements of twilight for the gods to their downfall in persistent screams.
