Many adult children of narcissistic parents, emotionally unavailable parents, grew up in an environment where there were no boundaries - where there was enmeshment. If you grow up in an narcissistic family dynamic - enmeshment feels 'normal'. I can't tell you how many times I've had people say to me once they learned about enmeshment trauma... I thought that was normal, or I thought that meant we were close.
