The major crunch of vaccine crunch began when the third phase of the coronavirus vaccination drive was started and the Centre announced the decentralization of vaccine procurement. The blame game between states and the Centre is over the procurement method, pricing policy of vaccines and inappropriate utilization of vaccines. TS Singh Deo, Chhattisgarh Health Minister, says, "There’s a difference between people who’ve been vaccinated & whose names are registered on the portal and the date which has been provided by vaccination sites." Vishvas Kailash Sarang, Medical Education Minister, Madhya Pradesh claims that "We have only 1.3% wastage of COVID vaccine doses in the State."
