Viewers across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) share their reaction to the rallies happening in the United States and beyond in response to the death of George Floyd, and to anti-Black racism.
Among those in the GTA to speak out was Toronto Raptors star and NBA Champion Fred Van Vleet, who pointed to the ongoing protests in both the U.S. and Canada as being a "boiling point" for people who are "fed up" with systemic racism.
Protests have across the country following the death of Floyd, a Black man who died after a white Minneapolis policeman pressed his knee into his neck for several minutes even after Floyd stopped moving and pleading for air.
Widely-seen bystander video showing Floyd's death has sparked protests around the world.
The officer, Derek Chauvin, has been fired and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. Three other officers involved were fired but have not been charged yet.
