This was the funnest DIY project that I got to do with my father a long time ago: a mason jar garden for the kitchen wall. Originally I wanted to grow herbs here—and tried—but it was near impossible because I didn't have enough light, so now I use horticultural varieties that typically grow in the understory of forests.
