This weird plastering job was captured from a November 11, 2020 (Veteran’s Day) MPC Classics airing of Probe (1972), the TV pilot movie, originally aired on NBC on February 21, 1972 (according to Wikipedia), which later aired for a limited series as Search, on the same network, beginning that fall. This was also one of the only WBTV shows to have the revived classic shield from 1972, before switching to the Big W logo, the logo originally used on Search, but with fanfare. Obviously, plastering had to be applied here, as it instead uses the 1984 logo with the end title theme still intact. UM prints use the 1990 WBTVD logo shown here, but with the slightly double pitched 2003 theme, here, it’s slightly slowed down to regular NTSC speed, and no, it’s not due to time compression, and has been muted by me. MPC airings also tack on the 1994 Pay-TV logo, which is cropped to fit in the 16:9 ratio, all thanks to the network, of course. The entire program was like that, because it was originally produced in the 4:3 ratio. The limited series on MPC uses the remastered prints, keeping original logos intact, with the 2003 logo following, that will be covered in the next video. The TV movie instead uses the VHS print, which is why you see this plaster.
