In this short documentary, we will take a closer look at the cause and consequences of the #AralSea depletion that has been occurring during the past 60 years. The greed from the Soviet Union led to the divergence of the rivers Amu Darya and Syr Darya, which consequently disrupted the natural order of the Aral Sea Basin, and over the years, led to the reduction of water in the Sea by over 90%.
We will take a look at the #geography and the consequences for the marine life and the people of the Aral Sea and finally, also take a look at the strategies of the the local and intentional community to "fix" the #catastrophe.
With the Aral Sea Basin Programs, a few endeavors have been great failures, but some of the more recent initiatives have started to get a hold of the situation and managed to restore some of the water level of the Northern Aral Sea.
