In this video I will show you how to get THAT 80s Metal / Hard Rock / Brown Sound. Its simple enough with a few key components. Watch the video and enjoy yourself.
Get a nice guitar and make sure it has good pickups. This one I'm playing here has Bill Lawrence L280 noiseless single coil pickups. I'm using a maple neck fender guitar because it sounds "bright" with a well defined bottom. ;) you can use any other guitar remember adjust the EQ on the amp accordingly.
Next get a nice amplifier. The one I'm using here is an Ibanez TSA 15 Head and Cabinet. Its a tube amp. If you dont have a tube amp, its not a problem just make sure you have an amp with a good speaker, preferably 12 inches and a nice big sound.
Now the pedals! Here I'm using a Proco RAT2 pedal with an LM308 opamp inside. You can get a regular RAT pedal too and it'll work just fine. You can use any other distortion pedal if you like. My settings here are: Dist: 30% Filter:75% Level: 75%. Keeping the distortion low helps the Tone have more crunch and definition
Between the guitar and the RAT pedal you need to put a Tube Screamer. Here I'm using a regular Ibanez Tube Screamer pedal (Built into this amp) with the following settings:
Drive:40% Tone: 50% Level: 60%
The final pedal is an analog delay. My settings for this are
Level 30%
Repeats: 25% (You can adjust this)
Delay: 50% to 60%
Set these as per your own need. I recommend that you keep just a little delay for ambience.
So to recap, the order of the pedals is shown below:
1. Guitar
2. Tube Screamer
3. RAT
4. Analog Delay
