They also visited the operating theater and viewed a live surgery of a baby with a cleft lip deformity. The intricacies of perfectly layered approximation of muscle, mucosa and skin of the lip was demonstrated to them during the surgery.
The Malaysian team expressed their appreciation to Dr. SM Balaji for demonstrating the fine nuances and technical aspects of cleft repair to them. They further shared that they felt inspired by his life to take up a career in the surgical care of cleft children.
