Mesa Boogie Lonestar has been described as a Hot-Rod ’ed Fender on Steroids among other things... it is a beast!
This review is with the combo…I have the head/cab version (Black Floral) of this amp but the same circuits and tone. The Mesa LoneStar has one of the more versatile drive channels out there with a reverb… why did they stop making it?
The Boogie product graveyard is littered with great amps. Also, it’s difficult to find Mesa dealers because it is such a niche boutique amp company. The LoneStar circuit has ended up in many of their amps and the Mesa amps are built like a tank…it was in production for 15 years. Boogie has discontinued many great amps over the years because it’s a small company making more hand-built custom products as compared to the larger companies like Fender. They keep tinkering at their shop and have created masterpiece products over the years that have become legends with superstar players like Kirk Hammett (Metallica), Mick Jones (Clash), Prince, Keith Richards & Ronnie Wood (Rolling Stones), Todd Rundgren, Carlos Santana, Soundgarden, Alex Lifeson (Rush) and many others.. It may be difficult to find a Mesa amp dealer but well worth the search. The Mesa Lonestar may very well be the best amp ever made.
