China recently held a military exercise in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region to ensure its army to be able to have sufficient supplies under extreme conditions.
Various new equipment and technology, including 3D printing and a door sensor system for data storage, were put into use for the first time during the exercise, which was operated 4,500 meters above sea level at the Tibet Training Center.
"We strive to use technology to collect real-time information and to ensure supplies on extreme battlefields like on plateaus and in cold mountainous regions. We achieved coordination between the front line and the supply team in the maneuver," said Zhao Fugui, director of the military gas supplies department of the Chengdu Military Region.
The army used a "field aircraft fuel system" during the maneuver, enabling the supply team to refuel a helicopter in only eight minutes.
"We can refuel the aircraft at all times and places, as long as it can land," said Niu Xin, a soldier from the logistics department of the Tibet Military Region.
All-terrain tracked tankers were also put into use during the exercise to refuel tanks.
"The slope of the terrain is more than 45 degrees, which makes it impossible for normal tanker trucks to drive. The tracked tanker can refuel tanks and other large military vehicles regardless of the terrain type," said Hao Jinliang, a soldier from the logistics department of the Tibet Military Region.
