John Wesley’s Sermon #4 Outline: “Scriptural Christianity”
Acts 2: 1-4
Introduction
1. In the 2nd Chapter of Acts, all filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke Foreign Languages
2. Later In chapter 4, all filled with Holy Ghost, but no gifts mentioned
3. Even in the early days, it appears that the gifts were given sparingly
4. However, they were given the mind of Christ and the Fruit of the Spirit
5. Therefore, let us concentrate on the fruitful life of Christianity
I Christianity Began in the Heart of individuals
1. The first hearers of the Gospel were saved by faith in Jesus Christ
2. Peace came to their heart
3. Joy came into their life
4. Love was shed abroad in their hearts by the Holy Spirit
5, They had a love for Humankind, because Christ died for all
6, They were crucified to the world
7. They did no harm to their neighbors
8. Accepted all means of grace, communion, studying the Word, prayer
9. Performed good works, fed the hungry, clothed the naked, helped the orphan and widow
10. Thus were the first Christians
II Christianity Spread from Person to Person
1. Believers let their light shine before others
2. They had compassion for the suffering and the lost
3. They pleaded to everyone “Flee from the wrath of God”
4. To the lost, they shouted “Awake”, To the saved, they preached: “Holiness”
5. As the Word increased, so did those offended
6. Persecution of Christians increased
7. Christians accused of being evil
8. Which led to Martyrdom for some .
9. Amazingly, Christianity spread all the more
III Christianity covers the World
1. Prophets foresaw the Earth full of the Knowledge of God
2. Israel missteps to let the Gentiles into the Kingdom of God
3. Finally, pease comes to the world
4. God’s mercy and justice reign
5. Harmony and love cover the earth
6. God, the mighty One, subdues all creation and becomes our Everlasting Light

2. Do not harden your hearts
3. Is Oxford a Christian city?
4. See for yourself
5. Are our leaders examples?
6. Are teachers filled with Holy Spirit?
7. Do teachers exhibit fruit?
8. Do clergy know God?

10. A generation of triflers?
11. Lord save us!
