The actor is best remembered for playing Rachel Green's father in the hit 90s sitcom Friends, alongside Jennifer Aniston. Earlier this week, his death was confirmed by his agent at Abrams Artists Agency in the US. In a statement to The Wrap, they said: "We at Abrams Artists Agency are saddened to hear the news of Ron's passing. "Ron was an incredibly talented actor with a distinguished career in film, TV and theatre. Our thoughts go out to his wife, Jessica, and his family." Leibman is survived by his wife of 36 years, Arrested Development star Jessica Walters. With a career spanning over six decades, Leibman became a familiar face in a number of hit American TV series. His stand-out role as Dr Green on Friends was particularly memorable, playing Rachel's bad-tempered father. In the late 70s, he shot to fame in the TV drama Kaz, in which a former convict becomes a criminal defence lawyer after being released from prison. Leibman's stellar performance landed him an Emmy award, following a two-year stint playing lead character Martin Kazinsky. On top of that, the actor also appeared in major series such as The Sopranos, Law and Order, and Murder, She Wrote. Before his TV career took off, Leibman featured in a number of films throughout the 70s, with titles like Hot Rock and Norma Rae. Alongside wife Jessica, Leibman ventured into theatre, starring together in a production of Tartuffle in Los Angeles in 1986, and Rumours on Broadway in 1988.
