In August 1991, Kenny Kasselder and Mark Brown completed the second ascent of the North Face of Mount Cleveland in Glacier National Park. It was a two-day push that followed the original 1976 ascent of Jim Kanzler, Steve Jackson and Terry Kennedy. The 4,000 foot North Face of Cleveland is steep, loose and notoriously difficult. It has only seen two ascents to my knowledge. This tape speaks to the joy of Kenny and Mark's successful ascent, filmed the day after they descended to the end-of-year party at Goat Haunt Ranger Station. Tragically Kenny Kasselder died in a fall on the Sandy Glacier Headwall of Mt. Hood in November 2004. Kenny had enormous good energy and smarts in addition to the drive that motivated him on many successful ascents and starting a family.
