The Two notes Torpedo Captor X is designed to let you find the sweet spot of your favorite tube amps without peeling the paint off your walls. The Captor X is, first and foremost, a reactive load box and attenuator that interacts with your amp in a similar manner as your speaker cab. Choose to attenuate down to -20dB at a gig or -38dB at home. The other option is to disconnect the cabinet entirely and use headphones or plug direct into your DAW or sound systems via XLRs and enjoy a multitude of Two notes Virtual Cabinets and stereo environments. The unit comes with 32 virtual guitar and bass cabs from single open back to thumping 4x12s. Hundreds of Dynamic IRs including bundles from Celestion and more are available at Two-Notes.com. Plus, If you have your own IRs, the Captor X has an IR loader just for that.
Controlling the Captor X and accessing all of its hardware is easy with the Torpedo Remote software with a computer/USB connection or mobile/Bluetooth. The virtual cabinets use Two notes Dyn-IRs which allow continuous control over two selectable microphones (condenser, ribbon and dynamic). Variable distance and axis plus rear cab miking can be mixed in any combination while algorithms place them in natural environments such as rooms and cathedrals, not to mention classic studio reverbs like spring and plate. 3 stereo modes allow maximum versatility live or in the studio with stereo, dual mono and wet/dry if you want to swap and adjust IRs at a later date in your DAW.
Other benefits of onboard DSP are final touches like a 5-band EQ for the virtual cabs, Enhancer to put the finishing touch on your tone and dynamics plus Twintracker for classic stereo doubling effect that would normally require a second overdub. There’s even a noise gate and tuner to complete the package. To help keep it simple, your top 6 Presets can be recalled without software from the front while the Voicing knob fine-tunes their mids and Space knob easily adapts to different sized venues.
