On the morning of 12.12.2018 the first cruise ship in the world powered primarily by LNG, AIDAnova, was handed over to the cruise line AIDA Cruises in Bremerhaven (Germany) by the shipyard MEYER WERFT. On the afternoon of 12.12.2018, the AIDAnova then started its maiden voyage in Bremerhaven, which was also the historic first maiden voyage of an LNG cruise ship. AIDAnova is with 183,858 GT the fifth largest cruise ship in the world at the time of sailing into service and also the largest cruise ship ever built in Germany.
