Dr. Nick demonstrates how to treat an infected ingrown toenail by temporarily removing the toenail. The nail will grow back in this example because it is a nail avulsion which means it's a temporary removal. A permanent removal would be know as a matrixectomy where the nail matrix cells are ablated with a chemical to stop the nail from reoccurring.
