As the wind blew away the fog, it paved the way for blue skies and golden coastlines. We are consistently seeing groups of 10+ Humpback Whales cooperatively feeding in Monterey Bay! The Humpbacks are here for the small baitfish known as anchovies. The anchovies are cooperatively corralled together by Hundreds of Birds, California Sea Lions, and numerous Whales in an effort to feed. The water clarity was exceptionally clear today making it easy to see the large schools of anchovies below the surface (0:46-1:00 & 1:36-1:44). We also spent intimate time with a Risso's Dolphin Nursery Pod with several calfs, some of which still having fetal folds (2:27-3:10).
