Basque is a nation without a state, currently residing in the northern Spain and southwestern France. Their struggle for independence against Spainsh and French regimes have been one of the longest conflicts in Europe.The dictatorial era of Francico Franco has been the most darkest chapter in the Basque histroy. During this period Basque language and culture was banned.

The ruthlessness of Franco resulted in the creation of armed Basque organization known as ETA. The ETA was involved in a bloody arms struggle against the Spanish administration. In 2012, ETA was completely disbanded but still many Basques linger in the jails of Spain on the chagers of being associated with ETA.
