Cockpit footage just released by the US Military of the Sept 19, 2021 crash, when a US Navy T-45 crashed into a Fort Worth suburb in Texas. The jet was a T-45C Goshawk training aircraft assigned to the Training Air Wing 2 at Naval Air Station Kingsville, Texas, and was on approach to Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth.
The T-45 is used to teach basic tactics like weapons delivery, close formation flying, and air combat maneuvering. It’s a highly modified BAE Hawk that is equipped with a tail hook so it can be used for carrier qualification.
Both pilots safely ejected before the aircraft crash-landed in the backyard of a residence, severely damaging three homes and injuring several people. The student pilot’s parachute became entangled in power lines, resulting in serious injuries. There were NO fatalities. The cause of the crash was a bird being ingested into the plane's engine.
