Around 1,000 leftist protestors clashed with German police in Leipzig on Friday (01/05), just before the beginning of the largest right-wing rally since the Nazi era.
The leftist protestors, who had called for the National Democratic Party (NPD) rally to be banned, threw stones at police vehicles. The police used water canon on the crowd in an attempt to keep them away from the May Day rally.
