Manila Bay, as one of the most economically and politically significant bodies of water in the Philippines, is one of the bodies of water greatly impacted by the worsening plastic pollution crisis both on its offshore and onshore areas. While various efforts at the national and local levels have been initiated, the lack of data and information on the extent and depth of these problems renders many of these efforts inutile.
In the past year, the EcoWaste Coalition, in partnership with Lasallian Community Development Center, De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, Cavite's Premier University, and UST Research Center for Social Sciences & Education - UST-RCSSED, led the development of four stand-alone reports to help provide a wealth of information, reliable data, and policy recommendations to inform effective waste management planning, improve practices and standard of waste governance in Metro Manila, and significantly contribute to arresting plastic pollution in the Bay.
