The_story_“His_First_Flight”_by_“Liam_O’_Flaherty”_is_about_a_young_seagull_who_is_afraid_to_fly._All_his_younger_siblings_despite_their_much_shorter_wings_flew_fearlessly_while_he_could_not_gather_the_courage_to_trust_his_own_wings._The_young_seagull_became_sad_when_he_saw_his_parents_perfecting_his_younger_siblings_in_the_art_of_flying._His_parents_scold_and_taunt_him_for_not_even_trying._They_even_call_him_a_“coward”._They_tell_him_a_lot_to_at_least_try_and_also_threaten_him_to_leave_him_alone_and_hungry_if_he_does_not._The_following_day,_he_is_left_in_isolation_and_upon_feeling_hungry;_he_tries_to_seek_the_attention_of_his_family_members._Only_his_mother,_who_is_withering_a_fish_in_an_attempt_to_eat_it,_notices_his_son._The_young_seagull_cries_out_of_starvation_hoping_his_mother_would_help._On_seeing_his_mother_come_to_him_with_the_fish,_he_gets_excited._But_on_noticing_that_his_mother_stopped_mid-way,_he_gets_maddened_out_of_hunger_and_takes_a_dive_at_the_fish,_forgetting_for_a_moment_that_he_is_afraid_to_fly._Finally,_he_took_his_first_flight._All_the_family_members_celebrate_his_victory_by_cheering_and_dancing_around_him._He_also_attempts_at_floating_in_the_sea_that_he_was_once_afraid_of._Thus,_he_overcomes_his_fear_and_realises_that_it_is_all_in_the_mind.
