This video introduces the concept of acceleration. Acceleration is a measure of how quickly the velocity of an object is changing - getting faster, slowing down or even changing direction.
The equation for acceleration is: acceleration = change in velocity/time or a = (v-u)/t or a = Δv/t. Velocity is a vector quantity therefore it has size and direction. So if an object changes direction without changing speed, its velocity still changes. Therefore if an object changes direction, it accelerates.
The units of acceleration are m/s^2 (metres per second squared).
