Tulane University Judeo-Christian Studies Chair presents the Mary Anna and Rabbi Julian B. Feibelman Memorial Public Lecture featuring Jon D. Levenson speaking on the topic, "The Binding of the Son in the Three 'Abrahamic Traditions': The Jewish-Christian-Muslim Debate"
Jon D. Levenson, Albert A. List Professor of Jewish Studies at Harvard University, received his PhD at Harvard in 1975 and has been teaching there since 1988. Professor Levenson’s work centers on the interpretation of the Hebrew Bible and the ways in which it has been understood over the centuries. He brings to his studies a particular interest in philosophical and theological issues and in the relationship of Judaism and Christianity. His book Resurrection and the Restoration of Israel: The Ultimate Victory of the God of Life (Yale 2006) won a National Jewish Book Award and an award from the Biblical Archaeology Society. Inheriting Abraham: The Legacy of the Patriarch in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam (Princeton 2012) was listed by Choice as one of the Outstanding Academic Titles for 2013. His most recent book is The Love of God: Divine Gift, Human Gratitude, and Mutual Faithfulness in Judaism (Princeton University Press, 2015).
