(13 Dec 2017) Greece's Supreme Court is due to rule on Wednesday on a US extradition request for Russian cybercrime suspect Alexander Vinnik.
Vinnik, who is wanted in the United States on charges of laundering 4 billion US dollars' worth of bitcoins through BTC-e, one of the world's largest digital currency exchanges, was seen arriving at the Supreme Court in Athens.
If the court decides in favour of extradition to the US, Greece's justice minister will have the final word on where the suspect will be sent.
Lower courts in Greece have approved both extradition requests.
Vinnik is the subject of a judicial tug-of-war between the US and Russia, which is also seeking his extradition on lesser charges.
Lower Greek courts have approved both requests.
The 37-year-old is fighting his extradition to the United States, but not to Russia.
Russia wants him back to face charges related to a 667,000-ruble (approx. 11,500 US dollars) fraud.
