Vacation, all I ever wanted.
More like, all the entire family ever wanted.
Multigenerational travel may be the new normal, but certain trips bring up old memories.
Take it from a survey of 2,000 parents conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by Jekyll Island.
It was all about vacation nostalgia.
A whopping 70% of parents say they’ve recreated a vacation memory from their childhood years later with their own kids.
In a new world, these parents seem to like things the old school way and
The biggest chunk recreated memories with their children by going to the same destination they went to as a kid, many did the same activities, ate at the same restaurants, staged the same old photos and stayed at the same hotel, according to the Jekyll Island survey.
Let’s just hope the lodging got a bit of an upgrade from the good old days.
Speaking of oldies but goodies, parents are more likely to recreate vacation memories when their parents are in tow.
61% think it’s easier to feel nostalgic when they bring their own parents, and just under 70% said they had a better time on vacation when their parents tagged along.
On top of that, 73% want to take more multigenerational trips in the years to come.
The fact that they get more than 2 weeks off makes it easy for your retired parents to join.
Besides, there are benefits to traveling with three of more generations like bonding time with the kids, grandkids, getting free childcare, going over old memories, and having extra members throw down on the total cost.
