I'm Guy Cashmore I'm technical director and co-founder of Kensa Heat Pumps, Kensa is a single product company we are manufacturer of ground source heat pumps Kensa was founded about 14 years ago with myself and a chap called Richard Freeborn and we started in a lock-up garage in Penryn, actually, just the two of us and Kensa has grown and developed from that day onwards.
The two parts of the site we've obviously got an admin office where also all our post-sales technical support takes place and our spare parts operation but really the hub of the business is the factory.
Full-time in the factory there's about 10 people actually manufacturing, essentially components come in at one end things like compressors and heat exchangers, sheet metal and they go down the production line and they're assembled into a finished product, and at the far end of the factory finished goods white goods come out, like a white box really a bit like a washing machine
or a fridge.
The products deliberately designed to be easy to assemble, the components go together in a logical sequence usually the hardware that the mechanical hardware goes in first and the electrical boxes go on second and then the outer case, the pretty bits that for the finished look goes on last.
About half of our production goes to social housing and so our clients are housing associations and they will end up very much in those types of property. Typically where there's no access to mains gas, so that's probably about half of our production. The other half goes typically to new build or major renovations of rural large houses.
Kensa is an amazing little company it's a super place to work and, nobody ever leaves, we only
grow. We've grown steadily every year basically since we were founded the products are always evolving but never dramatically changing and yeah Kensas having a really good year again we're profitable we're yeah it's a good life here.
It's always great to be nominated for awards the awards. Its a really good way of raising the company's profile we know that what we do here is actually quite special but what we probably haven't been very good at in the past is telling people about it so it's nice that those some of those things are now coming now, now changing and people are starting to get to know about Kensa
