The "Rollers" were certainly on a roll when this one was released as a single in 1976. Chicago radio superstation WLS, which gave the song much airplay, ranked "I Only Want to Be with You" as the 14th most popular hit of 1976. It spent two weeks at number two on their survey of 6 November 1976. On the US charts, it peaked at #12 and in the UK at #4 - also making the Top 20 in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland, The Netherlands and New Zealand.
