Although in reality, the Declaration was not fully signed by all 58 signers until August 2, 1776, this scene dramatically presents the intensity and fervor of those brave men and patriots of the United States on the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. For those men to choose a nation which had never before existed in the entire experience of humanity with little more than guts and a determination to be free, even knowing that signing such was an act of treason and could result in their deaths is nothing short of astounding to me. The world has for the past 241 years been in debt then to these men, heroic and dedicated. The torch that was lit on that day has lit the world for the past 241 years. Though not a perfect Republic, it has proven to be, as good as it gets for a government produced by the hands of imperfect men.
