TWILA TV's Last fall, we told you that wheat acres were down because it just didnt pencil out. Well, that was then. This is now. Were still seeing about half the wheat acres planted this year compared to last: about 200K acres. However, what changed is that nitrogen prices went down and yields are pretty high: about 60-70 bushels an acre. Thats not too shabby. While thats good for the farmers who chose to grow wheat, consumers wont see much of a change. While farmers are getting less money this year at the gate, the stores are not dropping their prices. All I have to say is that SOMEBODY is getting rich and it aint the farmers.
