MarSurf CWM100 FI hip ball implants
The roughness of femural ball implants must be checked on 5 positions according ISO 7206-2: At the ball-pole and at 4 places on the circumference 30° below the pole. A tactile measurement is allowed, however the true characteristics of the surface can only be detected by an areal 3D measurement of the topography. A traceable and precisely repeatable examination is not possible without auxiliary fixtures and would last uneconomically long without automation. This video shows the optimal solution:
Supported by a suitable fixture, a femural ball implant is precisely and fully automatically positioned according to the previously programmed coordinates. In each position, the topography of a sector of the surface is captured fully automatically and contactless in 3D. A standardized in-line evaluation of the 5 measurements gives not only the requested parameters according the standard but informs as well about the true quality of the surface.
