"Learn to use what you have got, and you won't need what you have not." This is a quote that I'll never forget, told to me by one of my most fearless/savage adventure addict friends - when we were both about 12 years old.
I came up with this idea for these 10-minute DIY trail running gaiters, as a quick-fix to a problem that can be really annoying when you're out trekking. You can make these out of just about any sleeves and fabric, as well as cut them down to your desired height and size. These DIY hiking gaiters, snow gaiters, and sand gaiters, are super-easy to store in your vehicle or pack, and they're easy to wash and dry. They're not designed to be the best trail gaiters in your kit . . . however, you just might find them to be your favorite recycled ones.
Instructions: 1) Find a retired long sleeve t-shirt (jacket, etc.); 2) Cut off the sleeves (leave the seems on the sleeves where they were attached to the rest of the shirt {so the ends don't fray). Pull the sleeve cuff where your wrist once went up your ankle, it now becomes the top of the gaiter.
